A New Zealand man has good reason to question whether his dog is truly his best friend after his family pet shot him in the backside in a potentially fatal accident.
The 40-year-old man was sitting in the backseat of his car when the dog stepped on the trigger of a loaded .22 rifle and shot him, police told the Northern Advocate newspaper on Wednesday.

Naked Utah Man Goes on Wyoming Rampage

Just a week after a naked woman led West Valley City police on a wild chase with two stolen cars — one of them a police cruiser — a Utah man put Wyoming Highway Patrol through a similar ordeal.
Before the night’s bizarre series of events came to a close, troopers were investigating an intentional ramming of a vehicle, shots fired and three people injured.
On the evening of June 23, dispatchers in Cheyenne, Wyo., received a report about 9 p.m. of a white car darting in and out of traffic and running off the eastbound shoulder of Interstate 80 near Wamsutter, Wyo., according to The Kemmerer Gazette.
Several more calls swiftly followed the first, this time reporting that the car’s driver — a 26-year-old Moroni man — was now standing in the roadway without a stitch of clothing.

A bizarre series of attacks has been solved, according to Auburn Police.
Twenty-seven-year-old John Walters of Tallassee, AL has been arrested for allegedly approaching women, grabbing their behinds and quickly taking off.
Reports indicate most of the attacks happened in the Magnolia Avenue area.

Last month, a 21-year-old man was booted from church twice in the same morning. According to police, the man was screaming, yelling and banging on the church’s front door around 7:40 a.m. After repeatedly asking the man to leave, officers noticed that he “had an object stuffed down his pants (later identified as a Bible).” The man was escorted off the church property.
The man returned about two hours later screaming and yelling at church members. According to the police report, the man has mental issues and went to the detention center at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Owners Report Cat After Pants Theft

The owners of a cat reported their pet to the police after it started stealing dozens of knickers and items of underwear from neighbouring gardens.
Peter and and Birgitt Weismantel adopted Oscar from the Cats Protection charity at Christmas.
But as the 12-year-old cat started to settle in at their home in Gordon Avenue, Southampton, Hampshire, it started bringing home its stolen booty.

Man Stole Tractor to Make a Beer Run

About 11 p.m. Friday, a Pasco County deputy pulled over Heath Cannon, who was driving a $15,000 Massey Ferguson box blade tractor on a Land O’ Lakes road, reports the St. Petersburg Times.
There were a couple of problems: The tractor had been stolen from a roadside construction site — and Cannon reeked of alcohol.
2 arrested in Theft of Tiger and 2 Camels

Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft last month of a tiger and two camels in Quebec, police confirmed Wednesday.
The men, aged 23 and 44, were arrested Tuesday after police searched a farm in St. Edmond de Grantham, the same town where Jonas, a three-year-old Bengal tiger, and Shawn and Todd, five-year-old camels, were discovered after going missing for four days, said Surete de Quebec Sgt. Ronald McInnis.
McInnis said evidence found in a barn indicated the animals had been kept in the farm building.

Gecko Theft Arrest in Northland

A man has been arrested over the theft of more than 20 geckos taken from two separate locations in Northland over the past 10 days.
At least 15 geckos have been recovered by police and Department of Conservation staff.
The arrest related to burglaries at Whangarei Museum on June 28-29 when seven forest geckos were stolen, and at Ti Point Reptile Park, Warkworth, on June 27 when 16 green geckos were taken, Acting Sergeant Christian Stainton, of Whangarei, said.
